Originally from Carnoustie, Scotland, Chris Robertson began playing the euphonium at the age of 10 and has since established himself as one of the leading euphonium players of his generation. He is currently Principal Euphonium of the world-renowned Brighouse & Rastrick Band and serves as Euphonium Tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Having graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a First Class Honours degree Chris also completed the RNCM's prestigious International Artist Diploma as a member of the acclaimed A4 Brass Quartet. He is now both an Associate Member and Honorary Associate Artist of the RNCM and regularly returns to the College as a specialist external assessor.

Prior to joining Brighouse & Rastrick, Chris held principal euphonium positions with several leading bands, including Grimethorpe Colliery and Kirkintilloch. During his time with Brighouse & Rastrick, he has played a key role in the band's successes at the British Open, Brass in Concert and Yorkshire Area Championships, earning numerous individual solo awards and accolades along the way.

As a highly sought-after soloist, performer and educator, Chris has appeared throughout the UK and internationally, with recent engagements in Switzerland, Ireland, Sweden, Lithuania, the Isle of Man and Finland. He is also a Besson Performing Artist, performing exclusively on a Besson Sovereign 969 euphonium.

Away from the concert platform, Chris co-hosts the popular brass band podcast 'That's Not Banding' alongside fellow Brighouse & Rastrick player Tom Smith.

We are delighted that Chris will be joining the Euphonium and Baritone faculty, alongside David Childs and Mike Cavanagh, at this year's Brass Band Summer School.
